KCYM Diocese of Palghat Stages Protest Against Drugs and Alcohol

“Younger generation should join hands to eradicate alcoholism and drugs that are spreading in the society as cancer. We all should try to chase alcohol and drugs that spoil the peace and harmony in the society and our families,” said Msgr. Joseph Chittipailli, Vicar General of Diocese of Palghat. He was addressing the public after inaugurating Ma Nishadha, the protest of KCYM Diocese of Palghat against drugs, alcohol and the wrong liquor policy of Kerala Government, on August 6 at Nenmara.

KCYM Diocesan General Anto Thermadam delivered the welcome address in the meeting which was presided by Prince Kalambukattil, diocesan President. Fr, Tom Vadakkekara, Diocesan Director delivered the introductory address while P.I. Lazar Master, Member of National Education Commission gave the key note address.

Sherif Ustad of Vallangi Juma Masjid, Fr. T.J. Antony, Secretary, KCBC Commission for Temperance, Former KCYM State Secretaries Santhosh Arackal and Sony Pavelil, Fr. Jose Ponmani, Director, KCYM Melarkode Forane and K.P. Lorance Master, Diocesan Pastoral Council Secretary delivered the felicitations.

Earlier in the noon, an awareness seminar on drugs and alcoholism was conducted which was lead by Fr. T.J. Antony. The meeting followed a youth protest rally lead by Prince Kalambukattil, KCYM Diocesan President. The rally was inaugurated by Fr. Jose Ponmani. More than 1000 youth from different parts of the dioceses participated in the rally and public meeting.
